Our vision for sustaining wellness is to create a safe, nurturing and enriching environment in which youth flourish in a wholesome way.

Emery Unified School District is committed to providing environments and models that promote and protect children’s health, wellbeing and ability to learn by implementing many innovative programs including:
- Establishing a nutrition program that promotes healthy eating, eliminating sodas and candy and adding salad bars
- Implementing a Culinary Arts after-school course
- Collaborated with Alameda County in its “Harvest of the Month” club – a program that supplies a box of fresh produce and complementary educational materials to each classroom
- Opening a Wellness Center to support the student community
- Partnering with Samuel Merritt College and Cal State East Bay to provide social work counselors and nurses to monitor students’ physical and emotional health
- Established an Asthma study program
- Reinvigorated athletics and physical education curriculum
- Reinstituted football
- Partnered with Mavericks Gym of Emeryville to provide health memberships for district employees
- Partnered with Dr. Warren Strudwick of BOSS (Bay Area Sports and Spine) in the development of the annual Shortest Triathlon Ever community event
- Partnered with Emeryville’s Community Services Department to institute innovative programs to provide swim instructions and water safety
- Established a free breakfast program for qualifying students

H1N1 Vaccination Schedule
The Alameda County Public Health Department is providing no-cost H1N1 vaccinations to uninsured residents who are at highest risk of complications from exposure to the H1N1 virus.

Application for Free or Reduced Meals
Each year families in the school district are required to complete an application for the free and reduced meals program. The form is included in every Emery enrollment and re-enrollment process. In 2007-2008 school year, 80% of the students in Emery USD qualified for free or reduced meals. Please call 510-601-4909 to inquire about qualifying your student for this food service. All information is confidential.
