Special Education

Secondary

At the secondary level, there are two Resource Specialists and one paraeducator serving students in the Resource Specialist Program. Using a Learning Center model, one Resource Specialist serves grades 7 through 9, and the other serves students in grades 10 to12. In addition, there is one Special Day Class with one teacher and one paraeducator. This class serves students in the mild to severe range in grades 7-12.

Other available services provided in Emery include

  • one full-time school psychologist, serving grades Pre K-12
  • one full-time school psychologist intern
  • one full-time speech and language pathologist, serving grades Pre K-12
  • All other services needed by students such as OT, PT, or APE are contracted through outside agencies
The district has partnerships with The Wright Institute; Cal State East Bay School of Social Work; University of San Francisco School of Social Work; and Samuel Merritt’s School of Nursing who provide us with master level interns and doctoral candidates. These partnerships allow us to provide Tier II interventions for students “at risk”.
