Emery Unified School
District
Sunshine Proposal
March 7, 2005
Salary and Benefits
- In
response to the request for an across-the-board salary increase
retroactive to July 1, 2004, the district will consider such an increase
with Health and Welfare Benefits capped at the 2004-2005 rate.
- In
response to the request for Special Education Stipends, the district is
open to consideration of stipends to acknowledge the additional work
required of special education teachers.
- In
response to the request for athletic coaching salary increases comparable
to league salaries, the district will consider an increase, which would
bring coaching stipends to parity with comparable league salaries.
- Additionally,
the district proposes to explore the compensation of employees for unused
sick days, paid for at an agreed upon rate, at the end of each school
year. Employees will still
retain/carry over sick days.
Work Conditions
- In
response to the request for guaranteed elementary school prep time, the
district agrees that the work of transforming education in Emeryville to
create equitable outcomes for all of our students requires additional time
and proposes to explore extending the work-day and the work calendar to
provide teachers the necessary time to collaborate and plan.
2005 -06 Negotiations
- In
response to the request for parties to commence negotiations for the
2005-06 successor agreement within three weeks of the settlement of
2004-05 negotiations, the district agrees to commence negotiations for the
successor agreement within a jointly agreed upon timeframe.
